Trend Test II: Runway Jo

I am constantly told that I wear too much black or stick to the same colour palette when styling my outfits. Do you get the same comments? If so, then this post is dedicated to you. Styling a monochromatic look isn't easy; even though it may just seem like throwing on items with the same tones. On the contrary, it's much more than that, it comes with finding those unique pieces that should ultimately 1) complement your entire look and figure, and 2) that also fit both your fashion agenda and personal style. Also, these items should relatively -although not necessarily- be in style at the moment (even though I am very pro experimentation and encourage everyone to do so).
I was able to do the latter and quite successfully if I may say so myself at Runway Jo; starting with putting together a full outfit to finishing touches. Now let's take a closer look.

Mays' mini guide to styling a basic look:

1) Ruffled or bell-shaped pieces are so in style right now and add amazing texture (this dress is perfect for Christmas eve. Styling it with jewellary is always a nice touch).
Retail Price: 135 JDs (Grab it before it's gone!)

2) Statement Fur Jackets
This piece is so beautiful and adds an instant a feel of royalty to any outfit. (sold for 1000JDs)

3) Statement clutches or totes (what I love about this clutch is that warm nude tone, plus it fits quite a lot!)

4) Scollars (stuck with finding a last minute Christmas gift? This scollar is your holiday answer!)

The founder of RunwayJo is constantly travelling through Europe to carefully hand pick these beautiful items. From the streets of Milan to Paris, each item is sourced from niche boutiques that actually predict next season's trends rather than follow the current. So you can count on finding very unique pieces that stand out of the crowd, rather than blend in. Visiting the store guarantees a fresh breeze of change from the usual highstreet, which is what we all want, right?

Trend Test I - Fashion House Amman

I visited my home town Amman, Jordan for a few days and my girlfriends there are constantly complaining that there's not much to shop from in Amman except for Zara and a few other places, making it difficult to stand out style-wise. After that, I decided to go on a fashion mission let's say to find boutiques in Amman that declared otherwise. (I think it's a Leo's trait to find joy in proving people wrong). SECOND HAND DESIGNER ITEMS FOR A FRACTION OF THE PRICE IN AMMAN?! Yes you heard it right ladies (and gentlemen for that matter), Fashion House is Amman's ONLY existing luxury consignment boutique. Best thing about them: You yourself can resell your precious items that you no longer show as much attention to anymore! Authenticity: Now this is key. When buying an item from Fashion House, rest assured you are 100% getting the real deal. Why? Because EVERY item must pass through a regular verification process by an international authentication company here in London. Now enough chatter, let's see some of their goodies!
Louis Vuitton Epi Louise PM, Fashion House price: 720JDs (Retail price: £1,110)
Chanel Black Vintage Caviar Square Bag, FH price: sold for 1100JDs (Retail price: worth over £2,300)
The Caviar bag has 18k gold plated cc that is now impossible to find, that being so, it is treasured by Chanel collectors. Not to mention, aren't those Chanel Espadrilles to die for?! They are on SALE for 400jds! If you're worried about the cold, you can easily style fishnets under your jeans (a major trend that I am loving!). So head down to Fashion House Amman for a whole store of items you would love to get your hands on from a beautiful Celine to stunning Haute couture dresses! They are located just behind the American Embassy. Check out their website to see their new arrivals and follow their their Instagram page for regular updates @fashionhouseamman.
A special surprise to my readers and followers you can use code 'Mays10' to get 10% off your holiday shop! https://fashion-house-amman.myshopify.com/

Travel in Style: Airport Chic!

Goodbye to frumpy outfits and hello to stylish comfort!
It's true that throwing on a pair of sneakers and an oversized tee may not scream fashion idol, but with carefully selected items and a good (arguable) fashion sense, a perfect and comfortable travelling outfit can be put together so easily!

Step 1: Pick your trainers (avoid high-heeled shoes!)

I chose the Adidas NMD_R1 for women in the colour black (obviously), as I've noticed some of my favourite bloggers reposting these. They are in style worldwide (and fortunately for us, easier to get to your hands on than Yeezy Boosts). P.S. apparently my Asian friends buy these in bulk as they sell out quick too!)

Step 2: Basic V-neck tee

A basic v-neck or round neck tee is an ABSOLUTE must in every lady's wardrobe!
I bought mine from Zara as the quality does not vanish into thin air after a few washes. (Maximum wash temperature: try not to exceed 30 degrees to avoid shrinking)

Step 3: Choose comfortable bottoms

Workout joggers are so in style right now! Never hesitate when buying a pair of these as they are so comfortable even if they are form fitting. An added plus: Try find a pair with unique patch work or details or even in my case; inserted mesh panels in order to differentiate your outfit from everyone else.
I bought mine from H&M, and below is the link of where you can purchase them :)

Step 4: Pick your Jacket

Now this is key; I would go for a velvet bomber maybe, or even a cool vintage leather jacket.
In my case, I chose this Zara army jacket which I bought a few years back. Here is a link to an updated new collection version of mine below

I hope you enjoyed my 1st blog post! I would appreciate and LOVE to get your thoughts and feedback on this post and even any ideas you may have on what I should do next!
Lots and lots of love,
